On February 14, 2025, Lacuna Coil released their tenth studio album, Sleepless Empire, marking a powerful and long-awaited comeback. This new work represents an evolution of the band’s sound, blending elements of gothic and alternative metal with electronic atmospheres and dark orchestrations, creating a deep and engaging sonic mix.
The album was preceded by several singles, including Never Dawn, a track originally created for a board game, and In the Mean Time, which featured the collaboration of Ash Costello of New Years Day. Subsequently, Hosting the Shadow, featuring Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, and Oxygen, featuring a more melodic vibe, were released. Shortly before the official release, I Wish You Were Dead, an aggressive and direct sounding track, was released.
The production of Sleepless Empire was handled by Marco Coti Zelati, bassist and creative mind of the band, while recording and mixing were entrusted to Stefano Santi, with mastering performed by Marco D’Agostino. Attention to detail and sound quality give the album a strong identity, capable of expressing the full intensity of the compositions.
